Art Description

Painting: Digital, Lights, LED, Paint, Wood on Plastic, Wood.

Special Edition 1 of 1

The Black Square refers to Malevich’s iconic and revolutionary Black Square painting of 1915. As is often the case in Shemza’s work, the artist uses the abstract visual language of the past and fuses these concepts with technology to try and build a bridge between the concept and a contemporary audience.

The piece uses LED light panels which fade on and off to an algorithm that changes over time creating a meditative effect.

The Black Square travels in a crate which is included in the sale price of the work.
The piece uses electricity and is supplied with a standard UK power lead. This can be adjusted for worldwide countries on request.
