From a young age, she was captivated by the world of art, drawing her first inspiration from the vibrant works of Picasso, Matisse, and Modigliani found within her mother's family library. Her passion for painting flourished early; by the age of four, she was already experimenting with colour and form. The sea has always been a powerful source of imagination for Gaia, and her artistic journey began with a deep fascination with "The Little Mermaid". Her artistic path was profoundly shaped by the figurative painter Eduard De Cabrera, who became her mentor and guide during her formative years. He introduced her to the works of Egon Schiele, Lucian Freud, Salvador Dalí, and Francisco Goya, leaving an indelible mark on her evolving style. From the age of twelve, Gaia spent each summer under his tutelage at the Artistic Circle-Association of Palamós, continuing until his passing. Gaia works primarily in watercolour, acrylic, and oil, with the female figure as her central subject. Her paintings are characterized by conceptual and cinematic compositions, inspired by poetry and music, that delve into the emotions and intimate inner worlds of women. Through her art, she seeks to explore beauty, sensation, and feeling, using the delicate interplay of light and shadow across the nude body to evoke a sense of movement and life. Her work is driven by the ambition to capture the human perception of reality; embracing its imperfections in the pursuit of truth and beauty. Gaia's art is a continuous search for these ideals, echoing the timeless words of John Keats: "Beauty is truth, Truth beauty."
