About The Artwork
The dynamic nature of New York, the life it has day and night has inspired many paintings and this is one of them. I have always been drawn to the beauty of the Chrysler building and it has a magical quality when it is lit at night. I explore Manhattan at night collecting images to work with. I create sketches, take photographs and work from memory. In the studio I distill this visual information down to the essential elements. In this painting I have sought to capture the movement and life of the streets at night, while the glowing Chrysler Building watches from above.
