I made this painting in response to the growing global tensions between nations, religions and skin colours. In the year 2020 it seems ludicrous that rather than embracing diversity we seem to be punishing it. As a global community we seem less tolerant than ever of peoples differences regarding location, colour and creed, resulting in the Doomsday clock moving closer than ever to midnight. This painting seeks to define equality by making everything equidistant with no one element overpowering the other, nothing dominating, everything working in a quiet harmony together, the way humans should be behaving in this developed stage of our evolution. I hand draw the layout lines before using a 30mm circle stencil to add the circles, I then mix up various skin tones and try to evenly, but randomly, distribute these colours about the canvas. This artwork is done on a canvas board that I prime white in acrylic paint before painting the circles in acrylic paint. I then hand make the frame using pine that I stain black. The artwork is signed and numbered on the reverse- this being number 1 in this series. If you would prefer, I can also add a signature and edition number to the front of the canvas.
