ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Dutch painter Jan Steen inspired this work. In fact, he painted "The Dancing Couple" back in 1663. Admiring his craft and influenced by his work, I have reimagined Steen's painting in a contemporary manner. By focusing on historical paintings, figures, or events, I am able to better understand the past and find connections to the present. Learning is an important aspect of painting for me and I enjoy the thought of connecting my work to the masters of the past.
