About The Artwork
The Dirty Rule 30 is inspired by Stephen Wolfram's Rule 30, which is a simple mathematic set of rules that reproduce complex, seemingly chaotic patterns. This mathematical construct can be likened to the way simple organisms may have evolved into more complex one over time. Many paint applications were used to create this work. for example, the bright, multi-colored background was made by flash freezing water-borne paint using liquid nitrogen in order to slow dispersion as the paint melts.
