About The Artwork
A modern Icon? I made this oil painting for a group exhibit titled: Icons. The Extasy of St. John or Patmos (The John who wrote the revelations and perhaps was under the influence of something or other when he wrote it). What is ecstasy? Is this man experiencing religious ecstasy or something else? When I paint I usually paint in acrylic paint, but recently I started painting with oil-paint. I also recently discovered painting in egg tempera. Egg tempera is made with egg yolk, powdered pigments and water. I create my egg tempera herself. The painting of the human body, and especially the male body, fascinates me very much and I find it a challenge to express the plasticity of the body in paint.
