About The Artwork

• By using multi-media techniques and Giclee ink, I created an image of a man running west to reach his so-called "Finish Line", which in life could be his goal for where he wants to be as an ambitious achiever. Without a goal, life can be unexciting and boring. For most of us, achieving our goals by using our acquired skills determines our place in society. A society of no achievers produces headaches for governments, such as the June 24, 2016 Brexit Event in Europe where Great Britain decided to leave the European Union partly because it wanted to close its borders to the entry of people it did not like, that is the Muslims. In a sense, we now see Great Britain a like a family which realized that enough is enough. No more immigrants who cause additional economic, social, and political problems. By trying to close its borders, the U.K. realized that it's dangerous to be "invaded" by undesirable people, which, incidentally, is really less invasive than what it did during its past world colonizing adventures. Spain invaded other countries too, as well as Portugal, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Germany. • When it colonized America, India, and Hong Kong, China for example, Great Britain was motivated largely by greed, and the empire it wanted to build. To succeed, we can say that Great Britain had to define its so-called "Finish Line". In World War II, that's exactly what Japan did too. And how about the Middle East and South America? • We can spend hours talking about who did what to whom, when and how; but there's no denying that greed was mostly the answer to the question of why. In Hitler's case, the motive was not greed. It was hate against greed. • Anyway, as you looked at how I painted the man in the abstract, you may find it hard to figure out whether he is heading west or east. I did it on purpose to confuse you. However, to prove that he is running west to reach his Finish Line, I drew his penis to look like it's taking a return flight from Indianapolis to Memphis. • And if you happened to be a man or a woman who now wants to run after a woman, be sure you know why you wanted to do it, when and where; and what it is you're after.
