ARTIST STATEMENT I paint to capture the essence of nature and its components in their unique form by arranging colours side by side to form a unified whole; to enjoy the obvious that may be consciously hidden or otherwise. As perceived, light is the key that traverse in my paintings, unveiling the beauty of nature and its components in their various values. The world as represented by people, culture and the environment is beautiful to be a unique subject matter. BIO. Oyedele Abiodun Oyewumi (b. 1991), a native of Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria, has an innate connection with nature that has greatly influenced his artistic journey. Beginning his academic path as a science student, his pursuit of Fine and Applied Arts at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, reignited his fervor for arts. He graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Technology (Hon.) in Fine and Applied Arts (Painting) with Second Class (Upper Division) in 2015. Abiodun artistic talents manifested early, as he translated his fascination with the environment into intricate drawings and paintings. Over time, he has honed his painting skills using various mediums, prominently favoring oil. His artwork is a reflection of the world's beauty including the environment, diverse cultures and societal occurrences. Abiodun's creations capture life's nuances through vibrant color palettes and therapeutic cool tones, all while emphasizing intricate details. His artistic philosophy centers around capturing nature's essence and unique components by orchestrating color harmoniously, creating a unified whole. Guided by the luminance of light, his canvases unveil the inherent values and beauty found within nature. In 2024, he obtained the degree of Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Fine Art (Painting) at his alma mater, LAUTECH. Abiodun's artistic endeavors have transcended borders, with his works gracing esteemed exhibitions and collections across the globe.
