The Inlet Painting

As a visual storyteller, Griffith creates images that invoke memories and feelings from the beauty she discovers in the world. Inspired by a lifelong fascination with abstract shapes, Griffith paints to capture the essence of a place to convey her thoughts and feelings. Her mixed-media art is often reminiscent of an earlier era yet is also unmistakably contemporary, intending to create modern art filled with layers of history and texture. Her work then invites viewers to complete the story by interpreting it through their lens and experience. Griffith often uses acrylic paints, graphite, charcoal, and various collage materials while creating her work. Shen then uses these materials, her layering techniques, and her sense of design to create texture and depth for each piece.
