Stain, ink and scribble, the color spreads like a creature on the canvas, takes up space and moves. Colors are species of living beings with their own will and musical nature; it is up to the artist to domesticate them in order to produce certain harmonies and effects. This painting was painted with the literary reference of João do Rio, chronicler, dandy and flaneur from Rio de Janeiro, who wrote the lovely little book called A Enchanting Soul of the Streets. The painter's poetics, however, is a different nature than that of writing - not my dear seventh-day semiotics, not everything is text! While writing is a game of signs, painting is a game of representation that depends on the concreteness of the materials. However, both approach when they walk towards the quicksand of the invention.
