The Most Important Job V Painting

The series of paintings "The Most Important Job" is based on stills from reality shows about parenting ("Supernanny" for example). I want to draw attention to the flipside of the mythical glowing motherhood we see in the media, by showing painful situations that may occur even in the most harmonious families. The fact that a child is dependent on its parents makes the relationship inherently unequal. This should warn people that abuse with lasting effects is easily administered and hard to avoid. A child is not a wild animal that needs to be tamed, as seems to be the prevailing belief. Nor is every woman meant to be a mother. "The Most Important Job V" is a very small oil painting on gesso prepared panel. On request I can make a hanging system.
