'The Pointy End' is a beautiful textured abstract painting in bold and dramatic tones and comes framed and ready to hang in a white wooden frame. This piece was shaped during the process of painting it by my internal dialogue. Like most things in life when it comes to the pointy end where decisions made have consequences to the direction moving forward - reach for the stars, trust yourself and just bloody do it! This work is the result, it was fuelled by energy and emotion and I hope that comes across. My work is inspired by and is a combination of music that moves my heart, popular culture and life's everyday events - a word, a triggered memory or the elements in a undiscovered street that catch my eye, to a wave crashing on a morning walk. I call these my lifescapes. This original painting is a fab piece to get lost in or a great conversation starter and would be right at home in any cosy space that needs that artwork with punch. It is signed on the front cheryl H., with full signature and titled on the back. It comes in a white gloss wooden framed and wired ready to hang on your wall.

I’m always working on several different series at the same time, it's just the way I work. Occasionally l will surrender and let a painting lead me astray and I love that too. My work is often inspired by the energy and rhythm found in music and nature. I combine elements from popular culture or life’s everyday events – a word, a triggered memory or a crashing wave on a morning walk. I call these my lifescapes. Equally, travelling and experiencing urban environments evoke both movement and energy within my mark-making. For the past twenty years my arts practice has jumped around different genres and mediums. My paintings often combine heavily impasto paint with thin washes. This technique has evolved through necessity, allowing me to continue working when my Rheumatoid Arthritis and CTS says otherwise. I like to think this ‘workaround' is a positive influence as I find myself increasingly working the paint with my hands, instead of holding tools, cutting out the "middle man", bringing my energy even closer to the work. Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoy a connection with my art. I gained my Bachelor of Arts in Australia and held my first solo show in 2001, at the Australian High Commission, London U.K. From there I regularly began exhibiting via group and solo shows across the U.K. For a decade I based myself in the artist colony of St. Ives, Cornwall – a place where l was fortunate enough to work along side some leading contemporary British artists. Returning to Australia in 2008, l completed my masters degree at the Queensland College of Art and have since held several solo exhibits and opened two galleries in between long stints of hibernation in my Port Douglas studio in tropical Far North Queensland.
