About The Artwork
From my new Emergent series, "The Promise" is inspired by the brilliant red amaryllis blooming in my studio. I am in awe of the transformation it goes through daily on its way to becoming a mass of blossoms on a single stalk. As new blossoms emerge, the stalk is continually shifting its balance, while maintaining its strength. The blossoms trust that the stalk will continue to support them. The stalk compassionately supports the flowers knowing that it is the reason they can remain beautiful. We make promises. Some we speak to another, some we keep for ourselves . . . commitments of love, either way. Compassion, strength, and trust are the wonders one receives of a promise freely given. It reflects the way I am feeling these days . . . promises of possibilities in all areas of my life are starting to emerge. I’ve made a promise to myself to explore them all, to bloom with compassion and trust as the amaryllis does. Painting is signed on the back, deep gallery wrap-edges are painted a coordinating color.

The energy that exists in the visible as a wave crashing into the shore and the invisible as thought: its effect on us and how we affect it down to the quantum level. This is what I and my art are about. The pieces I create speak to hope, change, enlightenment, transforming and becoming better, weathering the storms and learning to swim within the chaos. They offer a way to embrace shadow and find the wisdom and the light within it. INSPIRATION & SERIES:: I am visually inspired by the rich colors of oceans, forests, and flowers . . . by the perfect curve in the shape of a wave, the winding tendrils of vines and how they connect to everything around them. I am intrigued by Space visually and metaphorically. Images from the Webb and Hubble telescopes utilizing UV and IR filters show us billions of galaxies and richly colored nebulae. Though separated by incomprehensible distances, they are the light within the darkness. For me, beacons of hope and possibility.
