The Scene at Western Pond Painting

A recent variation on a wetlands series, 'The Scene at Western Pond' combines a trio of subjects that I've been using of late. The palette is kept soft and neutral but with a glow. The scene for me evokes some common elements of the natural world that kept me enthralled as a young boy growing up in suburban setting. The watercolor and acrylic handling lend themselves to the subject matter. The hive element started it all and that is done in a more conceptual way, emphasizing the crystalline structure of the comb and less concerned about any realistic position in the space frame. My titling and signature are executed in soft pencil with a cinnabar colored chop, in part to balance the asymmetric composition, but I also just enjoy the freedom to insert the title of the piece within the composition when I do these pieces on paper. The size of 22 x 28" includes the approx. 2" white border around the image. Currently offered unframed.
