About The Artwork

I wanted to do a women in freedom series for quite some time. I started with the "God is in the Rain" & this is my 2nd painting in the series. This painting has to do with feelings of freedom the girl is experiencing after looking to "the Son"-Jesus. In a way, it's almost a Heaven on earth. The colors are done to emit warmth & feelings of being at home. The Bible talks about wheat a few times representing Christians through a parable of the wheat & the tares & also in John 12:24 where it says, "Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." In a way, the wheat field is due to the wheat that has died & produced many seeds. Christ died & produced many seeds. This girl is one of them. As she runs after Him-the Son, she is set free, & "whom the Son sets free is free indeed." "The Son Sets Free." Girl in wheat field. Sides are white on original, but staples hidden. 2nd painting in my Women in Freedom Collection.

During some really difficult seasons and stages in my life, I started having visions of me being free that really gave me the desire to do whatever it would take to power through and fight for my freedom in those areas. I started a “Stages of Freedom” Collection as a result. In late 2007, I was at one of the lowest points in my life and found myself in an emergency room after downing enough aspirin to end my life prematurely. After being there for about 10 hours, my toxicity levels finally reached their peak and started going down. A dr. came in trying to shame me for my choice and asked if I felt stupid for what I had done while I sat there staring at the blank white walls and feeling utterly hopeless. At the time, I only wished I had thought of a better, more immediate plan of action. However, as I looked at the blank white walls, all I could picture was the girl in the rain painting I had painted only months before and realized this collection is meant to be bigger than myself and help others as well. It’s still not entirely complete, but I have every intention of proposing to put it in various places where people need hope and healing and wish for my art to help be a part of that process. I hope you will enjoy it as well as you take a look at it.
