The Swim Painting

Under the surface of water where the world of light reflects across a swimmer in a photo I wish I had captured myself, is what I hoped this piece could emulate. Besides capturing that moment of mysterious bluish greens and yellows mixing together and competing for their independence simultaneously, the task immersed myself into painting it with a very detailed observance. This is why I think the faint pencil lines in some of the bubbles and swirls, some even around the figure, are part of the dynamic essence I ended up leaving with thicker under painting drips and spills allowing the subject matter to likewise blend and dual with the surface. I was pleased with the result finding this painting a subtle and calm battle in this way.
