About The Artwork
Painting inspired by walking along a prehistoric (possibly processional) routeway that links the upper Clyde valley with the Forth estuary. Cutting through the south-west of the Pentland Hills, Scotland, there are a number of burial cairns along this particular section of the route (near West Linton). This is a second, improved, version of this image. I liked the composition so much that I wanted to paint it on the best quality fine grain linen I could find stretched over an aluminium panel to improve stability.
