About The Artwork

At the age of four, my mother used to catch and kill frogs by an old olive tree in Karpasia in the (currently) occupied side of Cyprus. This painting represents the image I had in mind as a child when I heard this story. This painting reminds us that parents were not born adults but were young and did mistakes at some point as well.

Antria Pelekanou is a recent MA Fine Art graduate of the University of East London. After curating contemporary art exhibitions at The Lloyd Gill Gallery in Weston-Super-Mare in 2009, Antria moved on to realise her ambition of devising an itinerant art show - A Moving Exhibition. The project displayed the work of 70 contemporary artists across six London galleries, from March to June 2010. She is the co-director of Persona Art Festival that will take place in central London, where she lives and works.
