"The water tower" is another addition to the Vernacular series. There is a water tower that sits on the top of a small rise in the far distance. It can only be seen from one particular room in the house. There is no one particular viewpoint but a sense of pieces and objects considered and explored.

The work tries to explain an aggregated view of my world. Satellite imagery, photography and personal experience all contribute. The work currently is a combination of encaustic and oil paints on to birch ply. Hot wax/resin can be mixed with pigment and poured, painted, trowelled or flicked onto the surface. Lots of layering means heavy scrapping back and scaring bring back covered surfaces. I focus on the familiar and the everyday. The work does not take a particular viewpoint but has a sense of pieces and objects considered and explored. I am currently working from my studio in Emly.
