This work is inspired by the juxtaposition of the serene beauty of water lilies against the untamed wilderness. It draws inspiration from the artists Claude Monet who painted water lilies, and the wilderness works of Thomas Moran. I hope its viewers will experience a harmonious blend of nature’s contrasting elements. I want them to feel a sense of tranquility from the water lilies and the wild, rugged beauty of the surrounding wilderness. I want the painting to evoke a sense of balance between the delicate and the wild. I chose the medium of textured acrylic paint to create depth in the water lilies’ petals and bring out the wild textures of the surrounding nature. The style was selected to showcase the vivid, contrasting colors and intricate textures, capturing the essence of this unique juxtaposition in nature. This painting has over 15 layers of paint which gives it a 3D effect

Biography Modern impressionist artist. Rawia Ghandour Zantout is a self taught artist. Rawia finds her inspiration in the works of prominent Impressionist painters many of whom lived and worked in the south of France where she lived and studied. Rawia Zantout is an experienced artist based in Lebanon whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, London, Paris and Dubai. Through the central themes relating to nature and landscapes, she endeavors to reveal nature's secrets through her works. In her artistic process, Zantout employs over fifteen layers of acrylics on canvas, creating engaging and "magical" textural effects. In 2006 Rawia was commissioned to create a range of paintings for Banks with a focus on ecological themes mainly present in the landscapes of her homeland, Lebanon. Her works were printed as lithographs and distributed to thousands of bank customers. In 2007, the artist, torn by the turmoil in her country, delved into the political side of art. She thus sought to crystallize the March 14 Revolution in Martyrs Square (which is hung in the former Lebanese prime minister’s office) Rawia was also commissioned to paint several portraits of World and Lebanese leaders including Vladimir Putin, Troels Povlsen, lebanese President Michel Aoun, lebanese prime minister Saad Harriri, ex lebanese prime minister Fouad Seniora and many others. Rawia has participated in over 25 exhibitions in Lebanon and abroad. Her artworks was displayed in Four Season’s hotel in Beirut before the tragic explosion of the port. Rawia was nominated for the world Global Art Award 2018 which took place last year in Dubai and was granted the Finalist certificate in the painting category.
