The culture and the sexuality I Painting

Artist statement The paintings I created in the series named ‘The Culture and The Sexuality’, is a divergence between the ancient society of Nepal with the contemporary society nowadays. As an artist, through these works, I tried to fetch the message about the sexuality prevalent in our culture to all the viewers, including the artists and other viewers. The works I present here are two of the paintings from the series from an ancient cultural dance “Mahakali Dance” from Nagadesh community in Madhyapur Thimi, Bhaktapur. During the dance, some of the characters perform some sexual steps which are likely a subject of taboo to the modern society these days. These kinds of sexual dancing steps are totally accepted as an interesting subject in the dance but in the modern society it’s not so applicable.
