About The Artwork
The piece is part of the textile paintings series entitled `Fragments of a forest` and depicts the remembrance of a deer walking in the forest. The piece is made of discarded sheep wool which was washed, carded, dyed and felted. It contains a textile support material on the back side and is stretched on a wooden stretcher. Frame and hanging hardware not included.

My current textile paintings stem from ongoing research of the place where I grew up: Gorj region of Romania. By using a discarded material I create images and personifications of my childhood forest and of the village as they exist in my memory but also in the local archaic rituals and mythological characters. My childhood forest becomes a sacred place where memory and imagination could co-exist.
