The mindful fox Painting

Oil on Belgian linen. 36 x 37 cm - 14.2 x 14.6” This fox has gone through quite a lot lately. Despite life’s events and hardships -which she understands happen to all of us, her focus is on delighting in life's gifts. She is alive and that is an opportunity for her to enjoy each moment. She has been practicing being more aware during her walks in the forest, listening to the leaves flutter, and feeling the light rain slide through her long, soft hair. “These walks are fantastic,” she thinks, “if thoughts appear I will let them come and go, they will fade away with every breath. Breathe in, and breathe out -slowly,” she tells herself as she walks under mature native trees that have been grounded in that spot for over a century. “Feel my paws on the moist grass, let the breeze touch my nose, move forward, and let the past in the past. Breathe in, and breathe out -slowly.” This is indeed a mindful fox. She is a gift and joy to all who know her. She has come to understand that being wise is a practice that requires little effort and a lot of awareness. Little judgment and a lot of forgiveness. Little ego and a lot of compassion. She is a companion fox whom you can awaken in every breath and every step. Let's go for a walk!
