I see them clearly as if it were yesterday The man and his pack of loyal strays On the winters evening on busy crossroads With steely resolve, together, holding fort Sharing a raggedy blanket with fortitude An example for us, of mutualistic commune Rejects of the world, no responsibility or care Look again, they have a pack of warmth to share. In a busy street it was a daily sight of a homeless man with some street dogs huddled up together in the winters sharing a blanket. Each felt secure and warm enough to get a peaceful sleep through the night. This sight was the inspiration behind the painting. We all need that pack and a share of the blanket to get us through life.
