About The Artwork

The story of “Bijan and Manijeh" from The Epic of Persian kings. The people of Arman, a region located at the border of Iran and Turan, complained to Kay Khosrow that they were suffering from attacks by wild boars. The king said he would reward anyone who solve the problem. Bijan announed his readiness. The king sent Gorgin, the son of Milad, as a guid with him. However, when he found that Bijan was on the verge of victory, he decided to deceive him and prevent him from returning to the capital. Manijeh, the daughter of Afrasiab, and her followers had pitched tents near the jungle. Therefore, Gorgin encouraged Bijan to see them. Manijeh fell in love with bijan and poured a sleeping potion into his drink. Then she took him to the palace and her room. When Afrasiab was informed, he arrested Bijan and tried to kill him. However, Piran stopped him and reminded him of the death of Siavash and the retaliatory `iranian wars. As Afrasiab ordered, Bijan was thrown into a well, and Manijeh sat at its mouth. Gorgin regretted his action; he returned to Iran and declared what he had done. Then, with Rostam and others, they entered Turan as merchants. They release Bijan from the well and attcked Afrasiab’s palace that night. Finally, Bijan and Manijeh married in king Kay Khosrow’s palace, and Rostam came back to his city... Born in 1966 Tabriz, Iran . I’m teaching Persian literature and poetry. I like beautiful stories especially epics and enjoy the stories that are told so sweet. As a researcher who is interested in Persian ancients and legends and as a teacher who wants to make difficult long and old texts, short and easy to understand for his students, I happen to create Shahnameh projects in which I can teach ancient Persian literature in two forms: pictures and short stories. Each project i create include a book of Persian legend stories and a collection of Paintings related to the stories. I started to paint when decided to create the very first project called Minimal Shahnameh (the book and the paintings) with zero experience in painting. I painted 67 pieces all the same size and technique. It took me 2 years to finish the collection. Each painting related to a story. I display some of them here in Saatchiart. The book of “Minimal Shahnameh” which is Farsi/English edition contains all stories of the entire Shahnameh plus the images of the paintings. It is available on Amazon. I like the idea to link the paintings with the written content since it can help readers of any level review the short stories in less time while enjoying the vivid scenes of the stories and experiencing their epic, mythical atmosphere. This will continue in my next projects as well. At the moment I am busy with the second project which includes some very sweet stories about Rostam lineage and Aryans and the paintings related to them.
