Mona Lisa, Leonardo’s masterpiece, always attracts ... not only viewers, but artists too: Duchamp, ... and Vladimir Kolosov. Vladimir remember how during his visit of Louvre for the first time in 1990’s his attention was attracted by crowd gathering around Mona Lisa and not painting itself. He says that this snapshot was sitting deeply in his mind until the moment when I decided to create his own version of Mona Lisa, his improvisation on the theme. Mona Lisa with moustaches, donkey’s ears, etc. - it is the past and not interesting any more. There should be something new. The key point is: what might happen with Mona Lisa? ... She can walk away and never be back, or she can be stolen... despite the painting is covered by the bullet proof glass. That’s interesting! And this idea lies behind this artwork.

BIO Vladimir Kolosov – a multi-educated Canadian artist. Since early childhood Vladimir is closely connected with music, fine arts, history and later with: mathematics, physics, psychology, and business. All of this is an integral part of his personality and life. Of course, his knowledge find the reflection in his art. Vladimir's art is not a copy of surroundings. Environment, nature, events, observations are inspiration to him. He observes, analyses, emphasizes the most important and deliver his findings through artworks to the viewer. He was born in USSR - the country which is not exist anymore. In 2006 Vladimir moved to Canada. He is the member of Federation of Canadian Artists, member of AICA/IAAC (art critic and independent curator). He wrote several essays about contemporary art about his way in arts. Vladimir is a columnist of VOYZX Art international magazine (). His publications also are mentioned at his website: .html. ARTIST STATEMENT I believe there to be no greater medium for expression than works of art, an idea is best spread through artwork as it allows the audience to interpret it in their own individual ways – which creates a stronger bond between art and audience. For this reason I chose art as my main means of expressing both the extraordinary and the simple joys and intricacies of the world that I have come across in my lifetime. Words would not suffice in trying to explain the inner workings of the mind – paint on a canvas does a much better job at showcasing the emotions and thoughts that ran through my mind with each particular event or thought portrayed in my artwork. Some of these artworks relate directly to events that I have experienced, and some are just ponders of what could have been or what is currently happening around the world from my point of view. Art is my passion, and my main way of letting the fragments of my mind flow out and allow them to be expressed.
