Thumsee is actually a mountain lake in Bavaria. I have been there a couple of weeks ago and was awed by the natural beauty. This visit inspired this painting. I worked with acrylic colours on heavy watercolour paper. So the painting needs a frame. The frame in the in situ photograph is just an example. The work is sealed with a satin varnish to protect it against UV-rays and dust. The painting is signed on the front and it has a clean white rim of 1 cm (0.4 in) around it. 63 x 48 x 0.1 cm / 24.8 x 18.9 x 0.04 in

ARTIST STATEMENT: Life is a largely subjective experience; but that subjective experience is my bridge to the objective world. And it’s this synthesis of the two that I am trying to capture. INSPIRATION AND PROCESS: I love experimenting and want to give my works an individual expression. I have two lines of work: I love painting almost (but not quite) realistic, somewhat utopian, nature images and on the other hand I really enjoy doing non-objective/abstract art. I am inspired by the beauty and power of natural phenomena, the mystery of nature, its colors and forms. Every painting is a one-of-a-kind work in which I try to combine feeling and thought. I work most of the time with acrylics but I also mix acrylics with other media such as oil pastel, soft pastel, spray paint, graphite and charcoal or ink. All materials I use, if canvas, paper or paints are of artist quality.
