"Tower of Babel" is a painting created on a large format canvas using acrylic inks. The subject matter of the artwork is inspired by the story of the Tower of Babel in the Bible, which is a tale about the origins of different languages on Earth and the attempt to build a tower to reach God. The use of acrylic inks allows for a range of vibrant colors and bold brushstrokes, which could be used to create a dramatic and powerful image. The large format of the canvas suggests that the painting is meant to be immersive and to convey a sense of scale and grandeur. The themes of language, God, and roots suggest that the artist may be exploring the complexities of human communication and our relationship to the divine. The Tower of Babel story is a cautionary tale about the dangers of hubris and the importance of humility, and the painting may be attempting to capture this message in a visual form. © 2023 Nogueira de Barros. Nogueira de Barros is an artist based in Portugal - Europe. He is professional Fine Art abstract artist Lives and works in Almada nearby Lisbon, Portugal Statment: Layer by layer I’m building abstract forms highlighting the beauty found in the process itself. The aim of my work is color, texture and roughness, strongly influenced by the beauty of nature. I look shapes in the relationship between natural and man-made elements. Nature has its own way of reinventing itself and over the years of regenerating itself. It is in the encounter of these processes that my pictorial search manifests itself. I seek perfection in the imperfections, in the insignificant and neglected marks that nature creates in the chaos of the human footprint. Work instinctively with wood, thread, textures and colors. The materials are deconstructed using methodically plastic materials - spreading, burning and dyeing. Time is invested in its realization: the works can take days, weeks or months to be created. The works evolve organically. They are constructed with layers of paint, glue, resin, paper, in three-dimensional abstract shapes that hang between object and image. Together they create a unique, visual and tactile landscape of form, depth and texture that challenges the spectator to reflect on us and the world. Né Barros
