About The Artwork
An idea of space and perception. Remi Delaplace has been reflecting on the perception of space for several years. The Dance and Painting relationships have a common origin in the theatre. The representation, the scene, the perspective, the frame... To the perspective responds the front plane, to the line: the color, and beyond that to the representation responds what presents itself. “My practice of painting is intimately linked to the practice of dance improvisation. In this painting I started from the idea in dance: touch and be touched, which I apply in my creative process. My work is crossed by themes: gravitation, trajectory, levitation, fall... which come directly from "contact dance". It is about new ways of inhabiting the world, space. The issues of the event, of orientation, of the situation of bodies and objects are played out”.

At the starting point of my work, my research was concerned with the space of sensations: understanding what is at stake between sensitivity emotion, feeling, senses, the body. A first axis of creation was a research into consciousness and particularly the concept of finiteness, which took shape under the headings "Dead body" and "Still Life". Another axis incorporates interiority and is entitled "Inside Outside". I question the boundaries, the boundaries between self and other, inside and outside. This is the body that I examined, feeling, mind. Sense of emotion and conscience lead me to expression by pictorial language in the moment: the here and now. To the expression of emotions are addes forms taken from the signs: feeling and mental processes are thus incorporated. I propose color, saturation as constituent elements of painting, expression of feeling. Rhythm and touch express emotion.
