About The Artwork

This painting was inspired by many people and events. I was first inspired by my Mother’s love of art. She shared that passion with my brother and me. My mother, Dorothy Bieber Nomberg, was a self-taught artist. She would bring art books home for my brother, Joel, and me to see the artist that she was fond of. My second inspiration was her favorite artist Toulouse Letrec. In our home was a wonderful poster of Letrec’s “Avril”, (April in French) with reds, blacks, whites and yellows. The poster depicted a Cabaret dancer. Understanding now - and looking back - it had a huge impact on me because today most of my works are done in these exact colors. Also growing up my family was dog lovers. Cats were never an option - until much later in life. As we were much older, and had families of our own, a cat took up residence at my parent’s home. The cat would not leave and so they eventually brought her in to care for her and feed her. Shortly thereafter they realized she was pregnant! There - in lies the love and bonding of le chat, (the cat), after which they continued to love and take care of four felines in their later years. Dogs, art, golf and cats were very important in their daily living. Having inherited these loves, could I have any better legacy than this? I think not!
