About The Artwork

Urban industrial train bridge in Chicago. I took several photographs where the road dipped under this train tunnel. The light shapes were especially fascinating as it really showed the glow of the concrete and steel architecture and steel columns against the triangle of light. The whole surface of the painting was splattered and dripped with verdigris colours and through multiple glazes, I was able to let a lot of that visual texture show through. The cream colour of the light remains opaque and the warm browns and rust have a translucent quality. More Keywords: steel structure, fabrication, overpass, highway, freeway, road, transportation, commute, pavement, asphalt, metropolis, guardrail, pedestrian, cars, subway, framework, city center, travel, driving, wasteland, apocalypse, derelict, abandoned
