TreeMe Painting

TreeMe has taken a long time to arrive in its most comfortable outer skin. The painting had gone through many aesthetic transitions of natural landscapes from the earth to the sea, fields, towns and modern urban experiences with moments in heaven and hell! The heavy painterly processes of addition and subtraction and layering through its successes and failures at most was a totally visceral and primal experience. Throughout the process I always had, for some reason, the memory of my next door neighbours tree that I would always love to watch through the window of my living room going into spring and summer bloom. At the time I would get really frustrated with myself that I never actually drew or painted it going through this wonderful transition, so, decided to incorporate it towards the paintings end which, in turn, actually helped its completion together with the neutralising beige colour of many of Barcelonas apartment blocks! I liked how the painting became somehow this searching abstract self portrait balanced by nature and the urban sprawl.
