ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I like trees: they feature often in my work. This watercolour was inspired by the soft colours of the bark in this stand of trees along the shoreline at Cambo in Fife. Watercolour is especially suited to creating subtle gradations of colour and shade. The structure of the winter trees is clearly visible: the branches reaching upwards, perfectly silhouetted against the sky. The piece has been executed on acid free 200 gsm watercolour paper.
