About The Artwork
"Trust" was inspired by a photo and a life model who l felt inspired strength and confidence. She is trusting enough to have a tattoo where she will never see it and yet model for artists she barely knows. The texture was created to have a hive effect as the tattoo was originally going to be of a bee. It was changed to have a more balanced mandala effect to represent what I see as a fearless, confident and calm woman. She's not afraid of being judged with her wild hair in the front yet, highly manicured hair in the back, expressing great strength and control. Fearless, but does she trust the viewer? The mediums in this painting are mixed. The base was a white canvas and the figure was created almost exclusively with acrylic paint and palette knife. The tattoo was with a fine paintbrush as that is an art form unto itself. The background patterns were created with silver leafing to highlight that hive effect as she is the queen in her world. Some silver leaf was painted over to mute the effect. Mixed media print was added to express her interesting internal dialog. It's quite hidden as all our internal conversations are. Even when designing a logo or branding concept, I redirect myself to understand the client's mindset and fulfill their needs. Working with clients to design artwork for various projects has been a complicated but enjoyable experience. Whether it's a watercolor for an art competition, a pet portrait, a child's portrait as a gift, or a massive trompe l'oeil mural for a catering facility, every project requires complete concentration and focus to complete. My greatest strength is my ability to communicate with my clients. I strive to make the client comfortable throughout the process and work with them to develop a confident path. I'm skilled in selecting the right color combinations and layouts to create the best composition for the project.
