About The Artwork
I wanted to paint the feeling of naked embrace. I have had the urge to paint flesh so this was a good vehicle to explore some different flesh tones and textures. The abstract and cubist nature of the composition holds the viewer as one tries to make sense of the structure. This is on cement smoothed over burlap on canvas so has a varied and interesting surface. One cannot make a painting like this and not think of Picasso, so definitely an influence.
