About The Artwork

What/who inspired the work? I suppose Mark Rothko inspired this but I definitely gave his style a more stylized twist using today's more contemporary colors and my presentation is different from any done by him that I'm aware of. I am a student of or fan of the color field artists of the past midcentury. What do you hope its viewers will feel/think? I'd call the somewhat muted colors in this piece "fresh" and soothing yet interesting. The red undercoat adds "vibrancy". Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style? This is my usual medium (acrylic) on 140LB watercolor paper doing midcentury style abstract expressionism painting. This type of art offers the eye a place upon which to rest inside a room. The asymmetry draws the eye in to question the purpose of the asymmetry which some personalities might find a bit disturbing. This painting was done using acrylic paints on 18x24 inch 140 LB acid free watercolor paper and is ready to frame. Frames are available as this is a standard size. It will be shipped loosely rolled in a box. This is done on 140 LB acid free watercolor paper. Size: 18x24 inches. Acrylic Paints. Sold Unframed.

Welcome to my Saatchi online gallery! I have done many styles of art for several decades, including Asian brush stroke ink painting, and midcentury abstract expressionism. I'm constantly exploring new subjects, materials, and methods. My yoga and meditation practices influence my art style, through which I hope to impart tranquility, peace, and playfulness. My preferred mediums are acrylic, ink, graphite, and watercolor on paper. I love to work on flat, white paper, which gives paintings an effect one cannot achieve on canvas — plus, it affords the opportunity to add a stunning frame. The music I listen to when I create art ranges from Native American drumming to Tibetan and Gregorian chants, Vivaldi, and singers like Leonard Cohen and Loreena McKennitt. Approximately two hundred of my paintings have been sold to people across the U.S., Britain, and Canada. My work has been exhibited in galleries in Colorado and Nebraska. I joined Saatchi in 2023.
