About The Artwork

"They say that patriotism is the last refuge to which a scoundrel clings, steal a little, and they throw you in jail. Steal a lot and then they make you king." ― Bob Dylan Though I love to bring color, fun and energy to life on canvas, sometimes as an artist I have a duty to paint the sign of the times. My aim is to expose the angst and dread that I and so many others are feeling now. The use of imagery & words are all there to encourage critical thinking. But while I'm painting a dark subject, I'm also shining a light of hopefulness. The intent is to spur you into action and to take part in the electoral process.

b. 1962 USA. "To me, art is the dance of emotion and communication made manifest" Deb Breton is an American abstract expressionist artist whose paintings are influenced by nature, spirituality and the human experience. Her portrait paintings reflect on popular culture and social issues such as human rights, black lives matter and the rights of the LGBTQ community, of which she is a part. Breton often portrays triangles (pyramids), DNA strands, and numbers in her neo-expressionist work, a nod to street and urban art influences. She also credits having lived in Germany and Austria in her formative years, for the way it has shaped the way she sees life. She creates using acrylics, oils, and collage on canvas. Based now in California, USA, in the heart of wine country. She's an animal loving, organic fruit and vegetable gardener, birder, kombucha brewer, and spiritual warrior.
