ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Starting her life as a private yacht, Mayflower was launched in 1896t and was later purchased by the U.S. government and used as a presidential yacht for T. Roosevelt, Taft, Wilson, Harding and Coolidge. Hoover sold the Mayflower during the depression to save money. One of her last voyages, in 1948, she was contracted to sail Jewish refugees to the port of Haifa, Israel. She was broken up in 1955.
