I created this piece after entering a point in my life where I felt "unbothered," especially as a Black woman. Unbothered is a state of being that involves carefully cultivating and actively maintaining your peace. In this painting, the woman is wearing her headwrap and she's resting naked with a glass of wine. She's unbothered as she indulges in the pleasure of rest while taking care of herself. It's self-love.
