I come from a family of creative people; my father was a jazz musician/composer and my mother was a pastel/ en plein air artist and theatre costumer. I spent several early childhood years on the road (literally observing the U.S.A. from the backseat of an old copper Chevrolet with long fins). My dad performed in the first Monterey jazz festival and had a touring jazz trio that kept our family constantly on the move. My mother took us out painting from the time I was four. Painting was, and still is, a joy for me. Story telling is in my emotional DNA. My work and the mediums I use depend on the story I am seeking to tell. II’m grateful for my rich past and present experiences that have shaped my life up until now and am excited by the prospects of a wide open future. On this site, I intend to explore and share my interests with you, including new abstracts that incorporate calligraphic elements (I was a professional calligrapher for the past 30 yrs). I deeply love history; the strength of old buildings in small towns and the people who hold on to their integrity and care for their families... maybe those long car rides in our old copper Chevy gave me the freedom to view life the way I do. It's a wonderful journey. .
