About The Artwork
"Unfinished Morning Prayer" is a two-piece artwork which exemplifies a different way in which men and women approach prayers. The man in the painting prays by the rules, wearing a tallit (Jewish prayer shawl), tefillin (a Jewish male accessory for prayers), and holds open Torah in his hands. His wife, however, seems to have just walked out of the shower in the towel, quickly thrown over her body. She lit the candles, opened the book, but tossed it aside and instead is praying with her eyes closed, probably for the things she truly needs. Mostly covered with religious attributes, her husband looks at her with judgment and lust, while she, casual and negligent, is fully immersed in her prayer. Whether they finished the prayer, or turned it into an act of morning lovemaking, will remain the mystery between them, art, and God.
