About The Artwork

A view into the world. Trapped within a vessel; a gauzy veil limiting sense of scale. Relating to the cardinal points of our landscape, our vision can be narrowly focused at times, preventing awareness to the whole. Focus manifests our purpose, yet we fail to recognize the benefit of cross-pollination within our tribe, or society, for thousands of years. And by doing so, fail to recognize the importance each of us play in the balance of our existence. We measure, discriminate, and disassociate, taking more than we give, in the most vehemently poised manner against one another, seeking power for our singular moment in the sun. If the mind could talk, it would express the deep underlying unhappiness we suffer from both, outside and inside. Instead these mute pleas are trapped within. Enjoy the show.

Painting is an extension of my daily life. A way for me to process and express myself to the world. Typically I will work in a series of three, six, or nine paintings, which usually have a common theme or relationship to one another. My work has been shown in a couple of Missouri galleries, but I now reside in KS. Simultaneously, I write poetry. These are two different forms of expression, but both viable to the process. Painting to me is more rigorous like Martin, while the poetry is a bit like Pollock. Seems random until you study it. Both feed one another for sure, but are recognizably different forms that dissect topics of power, control, and segregation. This process of reporting the world keeps me lean, and a keen student of humanity and the complex world we live in. Hope you enjoy, and gratitude.
