About The Artwork

“Varlam” painted on Canvas 40X50cm. My concept with this minimalist painting was to keep the painting simple and put to put a focus on the grey colours. In away an inspiration in mind was “Repentance”(Georgian: მონანიება translit. Monanieba, Russian: Покаяние) - Georgian Soviet art film directed by Tengiz Abuladze. The film was produced in 1984, however, it was banned from release in the Soviet Union for its semi-allegorical critique of Stalinism.
