Art Description

Painting: Acrylic on Canvas.

Painting: Acrylic on Canvas.

Another painting in a series of works where my primary influence is from the old fortification plans of Maréchal Vauban (1633-1707), the French general and engineer who planned the defences of some 160 strategic towns and coastal sites in France, plus more in other countries.

Here I have created a deliberately confusing interpretation of one of his basic ideas and turned his 'impregnable fortress' design features into a confusing set of walls and passages… but this time using only yellow and black to represent the striped 'hazard warning' plates mounted on most long commercial vehicles travelling the highways.
