About The Artwork
The painting of old vehicles that are distorted by damage has to do with my fascination for: time, mobility, change and transience. The industrial design of a vehicle takes a lot of time and in fractions of seconds, random abstract forms arise due to damage, with parts still intact here and there reminiscent of the original design. The functionality has also disappeared and in my experience there is only one object left.

I was born in Kampen, Holland and graduated from the Art Academy in Kampen in 1996. During my study I was an apprentice at the design department of The Natural History Museum of Bern Switzerland. Working there was of great influence on my current work. I paint, draw, shoot pictures, make model constructions, and work with digital photo editing. In my conceptual art all of these disciplines come together.
