I retrieved from the storage a candle base that we had had for years. It was a rigid piece of wood with a lavish coat of shiny black paint. It seemed to be a good support for a painting, but I didn’t know yet what I was going to paint. Because of the shape, it suggested a landscape in my mind. Little by little some trees started to appear with branches and snow. That was it, the landscape was hidden in that piece of wood, I just invited it to show up.
