About The Artwork

The title of Wabi-Sabi comes from the Japanese word that is used to describe flawed beauty. Wabi-sabi is the view or thought of finding beauty in every aspect of imperfection in nature. This artwork captures this concept through an abstract interpretation of river systems from a birds eye view. The artist observed multiple photos of rivers systems that were bleeding into oceans where often the unique colors came from humans negative influence on nature. Although we can see beauty in the new perspective of viewing nature from a birds-eye view, it is designed to bring awareness to the impact of mankind on our natural systems. Although beautiful, it's a tragic realisation.
