"Waiting room" from the series Interiors, the new work by Enrique Pichardo. "I have no interest in standing out in the upper echelons of the cultural world, nor am I interested in conceptualizing what I do too much. Nor give anyone the impression that I am an 'intellectual' who does not need to eat or have expenses. I enjoy painting what I paint. Some like it. And some buy it from me. That allows me to continue to have the resources to continue doing what I like in life. That was enough for me. " Enrique Pichardo's new work is a painting of a scene that unfolds in a closed space. Four characters coexist inside the painting; three of them seem to be the ones waiting, and the fourth, wearing a hat, seems to be the one that attends. Maybe they wait for the passing of time, or maybe they just wait for something to happen in their life.

The Mexican plastic artist, Enrique Pichardo, has more than 30 years of experience as a painter. His technique and style combine artistic influences from other countries with the traditional Mexican influence. In his own words, he defines his art as naive expressionism. The plastic work of Enrique Pichardo has more than one aspect. On the one hand, he creates works that are densely populated with shapes, figures, and colors. On the other hand, he has abstracted urban landscapes with a neutral color palette that recreates everyday situations. However, the special characteristic that maintains the cohesion of all his pieces is the conviction of approaching art through a return to his childhood and his first traces. Paint like a child, paint with more expression than technique, paint with feeling over technique. The painter seeks the skillful strokes of his inner child to carry out each of his pieces.
