A young woman from Mozambique in the midst of her daily walk for water. The focus of this piece is to bring attention to the millions of people without proper access to clean drinking water. This painting was done from a photo taken by a friend who traveled as a photographer and allowed me to use some of his photos as references. The background is layered with acrylic paint applied with a palette knife to create texture that evokes the passage of time. A limited palette is used on this series to emphasize the limits faced by impoverished children who are lacking basic needs. This painting has white edges, is varnished to prevent UV damage and is wired on the back, ready to hang.

Her work as a therapist informed her artwork as she learned more about how thought, emotion and behavior intersect in everyday life.
